The Legal Centre for Women’s Welfare (LCWW) of the Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) organized a two-day workshop on “Empowerment of Women Workforce in the Organised Sector” which was held on the 6th & 7th of December 2024. The workshop was inaugurated by Ms. Rukmani Priyadarshini, Superintendent of Women Prison, Tiruchirappalli and the Registrar of the University, Prof. (Dr.) S.M. Balakrishnan. The audience of the workshop consisted of about 60 working women from various organized sectors including HODs, assistant professors, nurses, social workers from leading educational institutions and NGOs in and around Tiruchirappalli. The workshop featured several expert resource persons, including Dr. S. Murugesan, Principal of Government Law College, Theni, Ms. T. Jayanthi Ranee, Advocate and Secretary of the Women’s Advocate Association, Trichy (WAAT), Adv. A. Vijaya Lakshmi, Ms. Leema Peter, Psychologist & Student Counsellor, Adv. Akalya Ravichandran, and Ms. Priyadarshini Karunakaran, Resident Counsellor, TNNLU. The workshop covered a diverse set of topics through six comprehensive sessions across the two days of the workshop such as Session on Constitutional Rights & Safeguards for Working Women, team building session, session on Labour Laws, Session on other laws pertaining to the safety and well-being of women, Session on POSH Act and Session on Family Life Counselling & Guidance on Balancing Personal and Professional Life. The event concluded with the valedictory address delivered by the Vice- Chancellor of TNNLU, Prof. (Dr.) V. Nagaraj, underscoring the importance of fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for women in both their families and workspace.
