
Dr. Mahindra Prabu M. serves as the Dean of Undergraduate Academics at the Tamil Nadu National
Law University (TNNLU). He is the Faculty Coordinator of the Centre for Investment Laws, a research
initiative supported by the Government of Tamil Nadu, and a member of the Academic Council and the
Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies (CPGLS).
Dr. Prabu joined TNNLU in 2015. Prior to this, he served as a Project Associate at the MHRD IPR Chair,
IIT Madras, and as a Guest Faculty at the School of Excellence in Law, Chennai, teaching Intellectual
Property Rights, Human Rights, and Interpretation of Statutes.
He completed his B.A.B.L. (2011) from Government Law College, Tirunelveli, securing University
Second Rank, and his M.L. in Intellectual Property Rights (2013) from The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar
Law University, Chennai, securing University First Rank and Gold Medal. He was awarded the Hon’ble
Justice P.A. Bhagawathi Endowment Gold Medal for International Law & Human Rights (2011), the
Hon’ble Justice Ramaswamy Memorial Award for Best Outgoing Student (2011), and the NEPC Gold
Medal (2013). He was also the recipient of the Jeeva Endowment Scholarship for Best Academic
Performance (2008–2011) and the Sri V. Sridevan Endowment Scholarship (2013). He cleared the
UGC-NET in 2013 and completed his Ph.D. in Law (2024) at The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law
University, Chennai.
At TNNLU, he has held several key administrative positions, including Dean of Student Affairs, Convenor
of the Admissions Committee, and Faculty-in-Charge of the Men’s Hostel and the Internship &
Placement Committee. Since 2016, he has played a significant role in the conduct of the Common Law
Admission Test (CLAT) in Tamil Nadu, serving as Centre Superintendent and Centre Observer, and
notably as the Zonal Coordinator for CLAT 2022.
His academic interests include Intellectual Property Rights, Investment Laws, and Technology Laws.
He has presented research papers at international and national conferences, organized national-level
conferences in Intellectual Property Rights and Investment Laws, and served as a resource person in
various academic programmes. He has also contributed to public awareness initiatives on legal
education and the CLAT examination.
Dr. Prabu has been selected for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) 2026
on “Protecting Intellectual Property to Promote Innovation and Trade,” conducted by the U.S.
Department of State. As part of this premier professional exchange programme, he will represent India in
the United States from February 28 to March 21, 2026, alongside distinguished participants from across
the globe.
