M. Sakthivel is a Professor of Law & Dean of Research at Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Law at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi; graduated in law from Govt. Law College, Trichy, (Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University, Chennai); and completed his post graduation with specializations in IPR & Environmental Laws from the School of Legal Studies, CUSAT, Kerala and conferred with a doctoral degree from the IUCIPRS, CUSAT under the guidance of Prof. N.S. Gopalakrishnan. His doctoral research was with a sprite to pioneer in interdisciplinary research on “Protection of Authors’ Right in Live Streaming: A Study in the Context of Digital Broadcasting”. He has extensively written on various IPR issues like broadcasting and Copyright, Sports and Copyright, Patents and IPR and Taxation to name few. He had travelled to many countires to take part in discourse on contemporary issues on IPR and presented his research works. He has been a resource person on various training programmes for judges, senior bureaucrats, PSUs, premier educational institutions like IITs, NITs, IIMs, and NLUs, and other academic institutions in India.
