Eco Club

We, the current generation, are facing one of the most daunting problems that have ever plagued mankind: climate change and waste management. Climate change is inevitable, but efforts can be taken to slow down the process and possibly reverse the damages done to the flora and fauna. With an idea of community participation, and awareness, the Environmental Club came into existence in August 2015, and ever since its inception; the Club has organized three successful Cleanliness Drives and Sapling Plantation Drives. The objective of Eco Club is aimed at channeling collective efforts towards the preservation and conservation of the flora and fauna in and around the sprawling 25-acre campus of the Tamil Nadu National Law School. Since its inception till closure of university due to lockdown, the club has always been filled with excitement with activities ranging from organizing sapling plantation drives to getting your hands dirty during cleanliness drives. The club has offered a plethora of opportunities to those who truly wished to make a change. Even then, despite the Lockdown, The Eco Club of TNNLU has continued to keep students active by organising discussions on Environmental law every month with the aim to be the platform for sharing knowledge and building knowledge in the field of Environmental Law. The Club also issues a newsletter “Kaveri” every month that provides a compilation of Environment related news, tracks, environmental lawsuits in the Judiciary, and other columns such as endangered species identifying the protection granted to them under the WLPA. Along with academic events, the Eco Club also conducted the first edition of "Eco Fest 2021", consisting of fun-filled events that helped in enriching students' legal knowledge on the environment and to unleash their creative skills. Further, the Club is active on social media platforms where it shares videos and posts on international days of importance and informative posts to spread awareness. Hence, it can be guaranteed that the Eco Club of TNNLU strives hard to motivate people and spread knowledge on how this earth can be made greener, cleaner and safer.
